New York Governor Kathy Hochul is creating a cyber security strategy for the state.

Governor Hochul says the strategy will give those in the public and private sector a guide for cyber risk mitigation and a plan to protect infrastructure, networks, data, and systems.

"We live in an area of geopolitical turmoil. There are increased cyber security threats and attacks from Russia and China because everybody knows New York."

Hochul has 90 million for cybersecurity included in the Fiscal Year 2024 Budget, some of which is going to secure local and county government computers. Hochul reminds folks that Suffolk County suffered a ransomware attack last year that revealed deficiencies in their cyber security system.
