Housing advocates concerned after Albany fails to reach housing deal

Housing advocates are warning struggling tenants that there won't be any relief anytime soon after top state leaders failed to reach a housing deal.

The state legislature has wrapped up this year's legislative session without an affordable housing plan despite state leaders previously declaring it a top priority. Cea Weaver is with Housing Justice For All.

"New Yorkers should expect to see rising rents. New Yorkers should expect to see no relief in the near future. Housing is tight and it's going to remain tight."

The senate majority leader and assembly speaker blame the governor for opposing their plan that would restrict tenant evictions and cap rent increases. The governor's team notes that lawmakers rejected her ambitious plan to build more housing in local communities.
