New York City is looking to promote healthier eating in schools.
The Adams Administration released a roadmap called “Prioritizing Food Education in Our Public Schools: A Path to Developing a Healthy Next Generation.” Schools Chancellor David Banks says the goal is to make sure students are educated on healthy foods and wellness and have greater access to nutritious meals in schools.
"If you want to shift this process of an unhealthy populous, it has to start at the youngest ages."
Officials say they want children to make healthy food choices because it can be difficult with a heavy amount of marketing of unhealthy foods.
