Faith based organizations are now agreeing to house asylum seekers with New York City out of shelter room and looking for places to put them.

Mayor Eric Adams’ administration worked out a deal with New York Disaster Interfaith Services that allows up to 50 houses of worship or faith based spaces to be used as shelter for migrants who continue to arrive daily in New York City. Reverend Terry Troia is with Project Hospitality on Staten Island.

“We need to open our hearts as we open our doors and welcome others as God welcomes us each moment of our lives.”

The program will host up to one-thousand asylum seekers. They will have access to food, shower and services.
