New York City now has a new full time person dedicated to trying to tackle the city's rat problem.
Kathleen Corradi spent three years leading efforts at the Department of Education to reduce the rat population in 120 buildings. She was just hired to oversee all of the strategies the city is using to try and get rid of rats as the city's new rat czar.
"We need to get the message out to New Yorkers, this is going to take all of us. Fighting rats starts with fighting litter, garbage and food waste."
Corradi says she will bring a science and systems based approach with a strong focus on cutting off food, water and shelter for rats. The newly created position pays 155 thousand dollars.
