The NYPD is testing out some new crime fighting technology including two robots.

In the summer, The NYPD will be piloting the K5 Security Robot which will move around confined public areas to provide additional camera coverage. The department will also test out a so called DigiDog robot which is ideal for hostage and other dangerous situations. Mayor Eric Adams says he's scanning the globe for new security technology.

“This is the beginning of a series of rollouts we are going to do to show how public safety has transformed itself.”

The police department is also testing out new technology that tracks vehicles remotely, to avoid a high-risk chase on crowded streets.
