Democrat Now Behind Effort To Bring Back Tappan Zee Bridge Name

The effort continues to get former New York Governor Mario Cuomo's name removed from a Hudson Valley bridge.

There's been Republican efforts to try and change the name of Mario Cuomo Bridge back to Tappan Zee but they have failed. Now, Democratic state Senator James Skoufis is the main sponsor of the bill .
"For me it's about getting the Tappan Zee name back. This is not about any animosity toward the Cuomo family or Mario Cuomo."

He's the first Democratic senator to support a name change, giving it a better chance at passing. Former Governor Andrew Cuomo named the new bridge after his father but Skoufis says that upset many in the Hudson Valley who wanted to keep Tappan Zee, named after native americans who once lived in the area.
