Hospitals in New York State are busy with patients sick with the flu, RSV and coronavirus.

There’s been a 75 percent increase in flu cases since the start of the flu season, a surge in RSV and now a higher coronavirus transmission rate than previous months. State Health Commissioner Mary Basset thinks the pandemic is factor.

“Kids have not been exposed to many common viruses that in another time would have been exposed to so we have a whole bowless of children that don’t have any prior immune protection.”

Governor Hochul is urging New Yorkers to get their flu and coronavirus vaccine shots. Hochul points out only 13 percent of the state’s eligible population has their up to date COVID boosters.
