Work is now starting on a huge infrastructure improvement project in Hoboken. Officials held a groundbreaking ceremony today.

The Hoboken Connect Project will bring new office space, affordable housing units, stores, a new bus terminal and increased bicycle and pedestrian access. Governor Phil Murphy says in addition to local funding the state is puting 176 million dollars toward it.

“It’s the addition of new modern buildings that will rise in a complimentary juxtaposition with the old, a melding of if you will of the old and the new where people will live and work.”

The project is supposed to lead to thousands of permanent jobs directly and indrectly. It's expected to bringin more revenue for NJ Transit
