Improvements To Far Rockaway, Queens Complete

ED REED

New York City officials are celebrating the completion of major quality of life improvements in Far Rockaway, Queens.

After more that two and a half years of work, downtown Far Rockaway now has new storm sewers and catch basins to alleviate flooding. It also has new sidewalks, trees, greenspace and a pedestrian plaza. A mix use building is now open that includes 224 affordable housing units, some of which will be for New Yorkers who were previously homeless. Queens Borough President Donovan Richards is impressed.

“A day where we can say the era of the east end of the Rockaways being deliberately disinvested in are over.”

The quality of life improvements came in 25 million dollars under budget.
