An M.T.A. worker wears a protective mask while working on a subway train in New York City on Monday as coronavirus cases continue to rise, fueled by the virus' delta variant.

Police are still looking for the person who shot and killed a man at random on the New York City subway system.

Mayor Adams says the Goldman Sachs employee shot and killed Sunday on a Q train is the type of employee he’s trying to get back to the office.

“Does this send a chilling impact on that, yes.”

Adams says the city is looking at buying new gun detection scanner technology that will eventually be used at subway entrances and exits.

“Because we want the mobile ones. We want to be able to just pop up at a station in someplace, people don’t know it’s there.”

Adams also says there needs to be a more visible presence of police officers on the platforms and in train cars.
