New York Governor Kathy Hochul has named a new lieutenant governor following the resignation of Brian Benjamin.
Congressman Antonio Delgado will soon take over for Brian Benjamin. Benjamin resigned last month following his arrest on bribery charges. Delgado will give up his 19th congressional district seat which includes the Hudson Valley and Catskills.
“New Yorkers deserve a lieutenant governor who is working day and night to make lives better for working people and their families, upstate, downstate, it does not matter. We all want the same thing, security, family, opportunity.”
A day before Governor Hochul tapped Delgado to be lieutenant governor, she signed a bill allowing for the removal of Brian Benjamin from the upcoming primary ballot.
