NY State Seeing Uptick In Coronavirus

There’s a rise in coronavirus cases in New York State. The state health commissioner Dr. Mary Bassett says she is not surprised at small relative upticks of coronavirus in parts of New York as society opens up and coronavirus rules are loosened. Basset notes the omicron subvariant now makes 42 percent of New York State cases.

“Even with the rise in cases in the BA2 which is a sub lineage of the omicron variant, we don’t expect to see a steep surge of cases in New York State.”

The positivity rate is rising and is now up to two percent. Hospitalizations remain at about a seven month low.
