New York City is expanding its Summer Rising school and recreation program.
The Summer Rising program builds off of previous summer initiatives for students. Andre White with Phipps Neighborhoods helps run the program. He says this year there will be more of a focus on enrichment activities, the arts, field trips and learning life skills.
“Every kid in our program gets the opportunity to visit our cultural institutions, our parks, are museums while building friendships and making sure they get academic support the need.
The program for 110 thousand K through 8th graders has expanded hours this year. Enrolment starts next month.
