The New York City’s Schools chancellor is calling for changes in laying out his vision for the school system. Chancellor David Banks highlights the fact that in the last five years 120 thousand families left the city’s public school system.
“Because we have broken the trust with our families and we have got to build that trust back.”
He wants parents to be more involved. Banks plans on expanding the gifted and talented program that Mayor de Blasio proposed to phase out. He also wants to educate students on eating healthy, increase the number of field trips, and add more school safety agents.
“We are coming off two years of this pandemic. We can not go back to doing things the way that we were doing them.”
