New Jersey Transit riders will not be forking over money anytime soon. There will be no fare increase for NJ Transit commuters through at least the first half of year 2023, marking five years in a row the price has stayed the same. Robert is a commuter from Glen Ridge and is thrilled.

“Probably the majority of New Jersians, being able to plan on a budget and not that no fare hikes are coming is probably a very big deal.”

New Jersey Transit has gotten criticized in the past for poor service, but stats show over the last few years, rail cancellations have decreased by 15 percent and on time performance has been better for both trains and buses. Governor Murphy’s also setting aside money in his budget proposal for Wi-Fi on all NJ Transit buses.
