New York City Mayor Eric Adams continues to try and get workers back in Manhattan offices.

The mayor met with heads of 100 companies last week, urging them to map out a plan that brings employees back to offices. He says places like restaurants and hair salons need their business. Kathryn Wylde with the Partnership for New York City agrees but doesn’t think companies have the upper hand to mandate a return because of the waves of resignations.

“Employees are voting with their feet when they feel their employers are not sensitive to their needs, whether its health concerns about the COVID or whether it’s concerns about crime and conditions on the subway.”

Wylde says only 30 percent of Manhattan office workers are back part time.
