The New York City summer youth employment program is expanding this year. Mayor Adams’ budget now calls for a record high 100-thousand youth summer jobs. Deputy Mayor Sheena Wright says this does more than offer people money and an alternative to gun violence.
“Summer youth employment improves academic outcomes, improves public safety and increases job readiness and knowledge of career options for young people.”
The summer youth job program is a six week period where those ages 14 to 24 can apply for jobs. That includes in technology, finance and consulting sectors.
