Cybersecurity Camp at County College of Morris Will Introduce Students to the Field

Students will take classes, hear guest speakers, and learn what it takes to work in cybersecurity

There’s a different kind of camp for high school students this summer. It’s at the County College of Morris, and gives students a chance to explore the field of cybersecurity. Professor Dawn Rywalt is the camp director

“As of right now there’s over 13,000 unfilled jobs in cybersecurity, There’s a big need for cybersecurity professionals and students just either don’t know about the field, or they feel like they’re not qualified for the field,” she said.

Rywalt said she wants students to know what it takes to work in cybersecurity.

“You need to be creative, you need to think outside the box, you need to be able to come up with interesting solutions for things. You need to be curious,” she said. “And you need to be trustworthy. In a lot of cases you’re gonna be dealing with sensitive information and your company needs to be able to trust you that you’re not going to spill the beans.

The camp is open to incoming high school freshmen and sophomores from Dover, Morristown and Parsippany. It takes place the last week of June. For more information visit the college’s web site.
