Message from PSE&G to customers during ice storm

Stay at least 30 feet from any downed wires, and call right away if you lose power, or text, or use the mobile app

Ice storms and power outages — all part of winter fun!

Ice and power lines —- and people —- don’t go well together. PSE&G’s Lauren Ugorji wants everyone to be safe this winter.

“We want to make sure customers know to stay away from downed wires, at least 30 feet but as far away as they can, and if there’s still snow on the ground that can bury wires so people can’t see them,” she said.

Ugorji said if your power goes out, call the utility right away. Don’t assume your neighbor has called. That way they can get to work on the problem as soon as possible.

She said there are a number of ways to let them know the lights are out.

“The easiest way is to download our mobile app but you can also send a text to, you can text the word OUT, O-U-T, to 4PSEG and that’s 47734,” she said, “and then you’ll get a response and you’ll get updates.”
