The January 2022 edition of "Ask Governor Murphy" was the first time Governor Phil Murphy came into the WBGO studios since the coronavirus pandemic brought out.
The Governor, who was re-elected in November of 2021, and host Nancy Solomon took calls on property taxes, teacher contracts, the expiring Excluded New Jerseyans Fund.
Even though indoor vaccine mandates are in place in Newark and New York City, Governor Phil Murphy says he does NOT think it’s needed statewide in New Jersey.
"We are big believers in vaccination or a testing opt-out if you're not in a health care or vulnerable community. We'll continue to still think that's a good idea, but a broad across the board mandate, I don't see it.
Murphy says in places where indoor vaccine mandates have been implemented, it has not made a difference in case numbers.
He adds that more is known about the virus now compared to early in the pandemic, which allows communities to make their own restrictions if necessary.
The next edition of Ask Governor Murphy is scheduled for February 23 at 7pm on WBGO and wbgo.org.
