A special night tonight (November 23) in men’s college basketball. The Harlem Renaissance Classic will take place on the campus of CCNY starting at 5pm.
The doubleheader of hoops features CACC perennial Champions Bloomfield College Bears and Dominican College Chargers challenging CIAA Powerhouses Lincoln University Lions and Bowie State University Bulldogs.
Bloomfield College basketball coach Gerald Holmes says he can’t wait for the electric atmosphere when his Bears battle Lincoln University in the nightcap.
"Playing again historically Black Colleges, of course we're not an HBCU but we're a predominantly Black institution to shed some light on the period of time, the Harlem Renaissance is important and for me in particular, you know my dad and uncles and aunts all grew up in Harlem at that time. I'm personally ecstatic about it. I have some family members coming to the game. I've kind of tried to heighten up my guys a little bit and make them understand the importance of not only the event, but we're playing against Lincoln University, the head coach there is my former assistant and the associate head coach is my former assistant, so I got to try and have my players ready also."

Coach Holmes, who is also the Assistant Director of Athletics, is ranked among the top 50 basketball coaches in New Jersey.
Bloomfield’s game gets underway at 7:30 at Nat Holman Fieldhouse located on the campus of City College of New York, 160 Convent Avenue, New York, NY.
CDC COVID-19 health and safety guidelines will be followed. All participants and visitors must have a COVID vaccination card or digital version.
