The 50th New York City Marathon takes place Sunday. Participants will go through all five boroughs and over several bridges in what’s one of the most attractive races in the world. Ben True won the 2018 half marathon and knows this will be an even bigger challenge.
“Time doesn’t matter. It’s a race course that you have to race the course almost as much as you race the competition. There are the hills and the chewed up roads. It’s more of a cross country race.”
The marathon was cancelled last year due to coronavirus and this year the number of participants is scaled back to about 30 thousand because of the pandemic. Runners must show proof of vaccination or a negative coronavirus test.
