Democrat Eric Adams, Brooklyn borough president, won in a landslide victory on Tuesday to become New York City's second Black mayor.

Eric Adams will become New York City’s 110th mayor after beating out Republican Curtis Sliwa. Eric Adams spoke with passion and a bit of anger as he thanked the packed crowd of supporters on Election Day.

“We are going to make the turn and take our city in a new direction.”

He vows to make the city safer and has a message to gang members.

“You won’t shoot up my city. You won’t stab young people in school. You won’t sell drugs and guns on my street.”

When it comes to the coronavirus vaccine, he said he doesn’t want division and will find a way to get through this, mentioning the employee unions. Adams also called for free childcare and working with big companies to offer paid internships.
