The US Open kicks off Monday but there's coronavirus related concerns for the big tennis event.

Tennis Fans will not have to undergo coronavirus testing and will not be required to wear masks or show proof of vaccination. Mark Levine heads the city council health committee and thinks it’s a mistake not have fans screened.

“Look, I worry this will be like the motorcycle rally in South Dakota where people come from all over the country with no screenings for vaccinations, very little mask wearing. The result is a spike and there could be here too and we can’t afford that.”

The complex is considered an outdoor setting despite indoor restaurants, shops and retractable roofs. Several tennis stars are sitting out of the U.S. Open due to injury including Rafael Nadal.
