The New York State Assembly Judiciary Committee is meeting Monday to discuss the ongoing impeachment probe against Governor Cuomo. Cuomo still hasn’t made a public appearance since releasing a video in response to sexual harassment allegations by the attorney general. Assemblyman Michael Montesano is on the committee.
“I think he’ll resign but I think he’s going to hold out as long as he can in this 30 day period to use that resignation as a bargaining chip with the district attorneys that are looking into him for criminal charges.
Montesano says if he does not resign the votes are there in the Assembly and Senate for impeachment.
“They may have thought that maybe some of these other people were not accurate in there allegations. This state trooper she had witnesses. They all had witnesses. There are 179 witnesses just dealing with the sexual misconduct allegations.”
He says the whole process could cost taxpayers millions of dollars and drag out into the mid fall. Cuomo has denied any wrongdoing. The Judiciary committee has given Cuomo until August 13th to hand over any evidence.
