NYC Banning Unvaccinated From Certain Indoor Places

Mayor
NBC News

New York City is banning people who are not vaccinated against coronavirus from certain places. Starting August 16th, people will have to show proof of vaccination to go inside restaurants, gyms and indoor entertainment facilities. Head of the City’s committee on Health Mark Levine says the measure is needed because daily coronavirus case numbers are rising rapidly.

“This initiative will make those places safer but it will also have an important secondary benefit which is it will jumpstart vaccination in New York City, something that we desperately need.”

This type of restriction for the unvaccinated is believed to be a first in the nation. New York City’s Hospitality Alliance released a statement saying in part, “We know that a mandated vaccine requirement will post economic and operational challenges to restaurants. However, it will alleviate the burden they face when implementing this policy voluntarily."
