NYPD to Boost Police Presence in Times Square After Shooting of Marine

The NYPD says it will also crack down on illegal street vendors.

You’ll be seeing a lot more cops in Times Square from now on.

Mayor de Blasio says 50 more NYPD officers will be assigned to Times Square in response to the accidental shooting Sunday night of a Marine who was visiting the area.

It happened near 46th and 7th, where some CD vendors were arguing under the Marriott Marquis sign. One pulled out a gun and fired a shot and the Marine was grazed in the back.

The NYPD says it will be cracking down on illegal vendors in Times Square.
