Fireworks in Short Supply This Fourth of July

Supplies, much of them from China, are delayed, and inventory is down after increased use last year.

If you’re thinking of making some noise this Fourth of July, don’t do any last-minute shopping.

There’s a shortage of fireworks. Stocks are down about 30% because of the effects of the pandemic.

The American Pyrotechnics Association says sellers in the US rely heavily on manufacturers in China. But shipping delays are putting a dent in the supply.

And retailers don’t have much inventory since more people set off their own fireworks last year when public displays were canceled. Those displays are on this year, and the shortage is not affecting professional shows.
