Governor Cuomo Thanks Front Line Workers As New York State Hit 70 Percent Vaccination Goal

Governor Andrew Cuomo is marking a turning point in the fight against coronavirus and lifting many restrictions. 70 percent of adults in New York State have now received at least one vaccine dose. Cuomo is calling it a momentous day and is also boasting that New York has the lowest coronavirus positivity rate in the nation.

“This is not to say that our journey is over because it is not over. We still have to manage COVID as the health professionals will tell you. We are still watching these variants of interest.”

But capacity limits, social distancing, health screenings and other restrictions are being lifted for commercial and social settings. CDC guidelines including masks are still in place for schools, public transit and health care settings.
