Shootings Have Nearly Doubled In First Five Months Of Year

The NYPD is working closer with federal authorities to go after illegal guns following a spike in shootings and murders in New York City.
The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and NYPD have formed a Crime Gun Intelligence Center. The NYPD’s John Miller says they will work together like never before using the most up to date technology to track down illegal guns.

“Every gun tells a story, every bullet tells a story. Every shell casing tells a story and ATF technology helps us bring that all together.”

John DeVito is the special agent in charge for the ATF in New York State

“For those offenders specifically, it’s not a matter of if but when we will come calling.”

Shootings have nearly doubled in the city in the first five months of year.
