Cuomo To Remove Most COVID Restrictions Once 70 Percent Of Adults Are Vaccinated
New York State could be close to ending most coronavirus restrictions and rules. Right now 68.6 percent of adults in the state have at least one coronavirus vaccine dose in them.
“When we hit 70 percent, then I feel comfortable saying to the people of this state we can relax virtually all restrictions.”
At that point, Governor Cuomo says masks would still be required according to CDC guidelines but social distancing, screening protocols, capacity limits would all be lifted. Meanwhile, masks are still required in schools but Cuomo is now giving local authorities the option to allow students and teachers to take them off outdoors.
A huge concert is being planned to celebrate the reopening of New York City.
Clive Davis is being tasked with recruiting numerous stars to perform in Central Park as a part of what Mayor de Blasio calls a once in a lifetime concert to show New York City is back.
“It will celebrate the summer of New York City, the comeback and will emphatically make the point there is no stopping New York. It’s going to be a great lineup.”
The mayor expects a huge crowd and people coming in from the suburbs. The concert will be in August but the date and other details are still being nailed down. The mayor feels very confident the concert can be held safely given the continued improvement with the coronavirus situation.
