New York City is expanding family enrichment centers to areas hardest hit by coronavirus. Right now there are three family enrichment centers. They are run by community based organizations with the goal of reducing child welfare involvement. Councilwoman Vanessa Gibson says they are providing a crucial lifeline for families during the pandemic.
“Offering assistance with virtual learning, access to social services and benefits, rental and housing assistance, providing multi lingual services.”
So the de Blasio administration is adding more. There will eventually be 30 family enrichment centers over the next several years. They will connect children and parents to resources for long term stability.
