Looser coronavirus related mask rules go into effect tomorrow in New York State but New York City’s top doctor is urging New Yorkers to be cautious. Those who are fully vaccinated don’t need a mask in most indoor and outdoor settings In New York per CDC guidelines. However, the City’s Health Commissioner Dr. Dave Chokshi is fully vaccinated but will not change much inside.
“I’ll be keeping my mask on indoors in almost all settings. When I put it on I’ll be thinking of the sense of community and the social norms around masking and distancing that helped us get to this very hopeful stage of the pandemic.”
He recommends New Yorkers continue mask use in many indoor settings until more people are vaccinated.
