There’s concern about the coronavirus infection rate in New York. New York State and New Jersey are tops in the nation for most coronavirus cases per capita. New York City’s stats show the city’s infection rate is around six percent. The head of the city’s health committee, Councilman Mark Levine is calling on the Biden Administration to increase vaccine supply to New York.
“We’re seeing an alarming increase in the case rate. We are starting to see hospitalizations climb. It’s in the national interest to surge vaccine supply here to the variant hot spots because if we have another spike here, it’s going to impact the rest of the country.”
Levine feels the state is reopening too quickly. Meanwhile, New York City hit a new high with vaccinations in one week last week. More than 480 thousand doses were administered.
