Food banks in New Jersey are finding business is booming as more and more people lose their jobs.
Fulfill … a food bank in Monmouth and Ocean Counties … is serving about 200,000 people these days … up from about 136,000.
And it has served about 364,000 meals … up about 40 percent. Kim Guadagno … president and CEO … says they’re trying to help the resort areas.
"I think the Jersey shore is going to be hit harder than some of the other areas … because we rely on hospitality and restaurants … we’ve been working very hard to keep those restaurants open."
Guadagno is also an attorney, politician and former prosecutor who served as the first Lieutenant Governor and 33rd Secretary of State of New Jersey from 2010 to 2018.
Fulfill has a new texting system for finding the nearest pantry … people in the two counties can text FINDFOOD … one word … to 888-918-2729… put in their zip code … and the nearest pantries will pop up.
