Archdiocese of Newark's Holy Week Available Through Livestreams

Cardinal Tobin
Archdiocese of Newark/Jai Agnish

The Archdiocese of Newark is turning to livestreams to deliver church services to those celebrating Holy Week. The first was on Palm Sunday.

Masses are also set for Good Friday and Easter Sunday, streamed from the Cathedral Basilica of the Sacred Heart in Newark.

Cardinal Joseph Tobin will celebrate the Masses.   He also sent out video messages this week to parishioners.

The Archdiocese says the response to the livestreams has been very positive and that a Go Fund Me Charity has raised more than $320,000 so far to help churches continue to provide food pantries, support groups, and religious education during the COVID-19 pandemic.

To show solidarity during these difficult times, Cardinal Tobin urges all pastors and parishes in the Archdiocese to ring church bells simultaneously at noon each day, with the exception of Good Friday and Saturday afternoon, until further notice.

The schedule of services can be found at www.rcan.org/easter. For a list of local parish livestreams, visit www.rcan.org/parishsupport and click on the Parish Livestreams tab.
