Indie Street Film Festival Returns to Red Bank

Over 60 films are screening at various locations across Red Bank, New Jersey this week.  Along with those movies are a string of community events.  Jay Webb co-founder of the Indie Street Film Festival says they find creative ways for moviegoers to mingle with filmmakers.

“We have a barbecue documentary that talks about traditions from around the world and how people gather around fire and food in order to kind of connect with each other and tell stories.  After that documentary, the Bowtie Cinemas is allowing us to a community cookout right out in front of the theater where the filmmakers will be hanging out and answering questions.”

Webb says the independent film moniker shouldn’t scare off traditional movie lovers.

“We have a few bigger names films, a Michael Caine premier, another film with Michael Cera.  While some of the films are in that indie spirit, we try to select films that are relatable to all different types of people.”

The Indie Street Film Festival's producers hope it will introduce people to movies they wouldn’t have been exposed to.

“With all of the content out there, it can be really difficult to find these really talented filmmakers with stories, so we’re doing that work for you," Webb said.  "We’re also giving you a place to gather and meet people in the community, experience live art, live music, and connect with each other.”
