His first album, My Favorite Things quickly followed, showing how he understood the works of Coltrane, Monk, Rodgers & Hammerstein, Dizzy Gillespie & more.
Blink! And we now have Celestial Keeper, Joey Alexander's 8th album as a leader. This time out we are made aware of his developing compositional skills alongside standards on both piano and Fender Rhodes, with bassist Kris Funn and drummer Jonathan Barber, special guest saxophonist Jaleel Shaw, and guest vocalists Alita Moses and Lisa Fischer. The music here features both high energy and hush from one of our most engaging players today.
