Guitarist Stephane Wrembel, best known for his original compositions and playing in the Woody Allen films Midnight in Paris and Vicki Cristina Barcelona, returns with his new release, Django New Orleans II - Hors Serie, featuring his nine-piece ensemble. In tribute to guitarist Django Reinhardt, fusing the rich bass traditions of New Orleans with the fiery spirit of Reinhardt's Jazz Manouche.
Hors Serie means special edition, and for Wrembel and his bandmates, there's also a visit to the world of Jobim, Serge Gainsbourg, Astor Piazzolla (with lyrics by Grace Jones!), Edith Piaf, and an original that pays tribute to character Holden Caulfield of Catcher in The Rye fame.
