Five-time Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter and producer Lalah Hathaway will perform at the 2025 DC Jazz Fest at the Anthem this Friday, August 29.

Hathaway, daughter of soul legend Donny Hathaway, spoke with WBGO's Doug Doyle about her upcoming concert and her more than three-decade career.
Hathaway admits while creating magic in the studio is great, she loves performing live.
"I really love the immediacy of having the audience right there. I love recording records because you can make something perfect that will last forever, but I really love the conversation that happens between musicians, live in front of an audience and I don't know if there are also a part of that conversation. I just really love being able to look at people and communicate to and with people in a live setting. There's nothing like the immediate sort of feedback of what's happening in the room with those people that can never happen again.
