April is Jazz Appreciation Month!
As in past years, WBGO celebrated JAM by honoring the higher institutions and the next generation of Jazz musicians. Every week during the month of April, we will be spotlighting the music of various music schools from both the New York and New Jersey area as well as from farther afield!
WBGO celebrates the music of students from the UCLA Herb Alpert School of Music on Monday 4/7-Wednesday 4/9.
"Corcovado" by Antonio Carlos Jobim was arranged by students Courtney Blue & Christian Rodriguez and submitted to WBGO as part of our JAM celebration.
Founded in 2008 with a naming gift of $30 million from the Herb Alpert Foundation, The UCLA Herb Alpert School of Music was formally established as UCLA’s 12th professional school by the UC Regents in 2016.

The school originally comprised the departments of ethnomusicology, music and musicology, and has since added interdisciplinary programs in global jazz studies and music industry, and the Herbie Hancock Institute of Jazz Performance. Learn more atwww.schoolofmusic.ucla.edu
