The Salsoul Orchestra

On this week’s Rhythm Revue Spotlight, I welcome Mathew Weiner. Matthew is a bass player and former audio engineer at Sigma, New York. Mathew is also a member of WBGO and has contributed to the station and hosted an hour on the Rhythm Revue.

During his time hosting, we discussed his work as an engineer at Sigma, New York, which was an extension of Sigma Sound Studios in Philadelphia, where the majority of the Philadelphia sound was recorded. Think Kenny Gamble and Leon Huff, Philly International Records, The O’Jays, and Patti Labelle.

Enjoy our conversation and Matthew’s selections, and be sure to tune into Rhythm Revue on Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and Sundays from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
