Jeremy Pelt’s album ‘Tomorrow's Another Day’ featured on WBGO’s New Day, New Play June 17-21

Many many years ago at WBGO, one of our dearly departed Legacy volunteers, June Kim, would never miss an opportunity to champion the talents of her young nephew, who had just picked up the trumpet and was starting to take lessons. Lesson to be learned - sometimes you need to pay attention to what those around you are saying. Turns out we've all watched the development of trumpeter Jeremy Pelt to this moment with his new album Tomorrow's Another Day, his most adventurous to date, and debuting his new band - featuring vibraphonist Jalen Baker, guitarist Alex Wintz, Frank LoCrasto on piano & Fender Rhodes, Leighton McKinley Harrell on acoustic & electric bass, and drummers Allan Mednard and Deantoni Parks.

One of the magic elements of this music is watching and listening to an artist mine their craft. With Tomorrow's Another Day, Jeremy Pelt beckons us to join his newest adventure.

From Monday, June 17 through Friday, June 21, one cut from Jeremy Pelt’s album Tomorrow's Another Day will be featured each morning in the New Day, New Play spotlight on my Daybreak show.

In jazz radio, great announcers are distinguished by their ability to convey the spontaneity and passion of the music. Gary Walker is such an announcer, and his enthusiasm for this music greets WBGO listeners every morning on Daybreak. He's the winner of the 1996 Gavin Magazine Jazz Radio Personality of the Year Award and the recipient of the 2021 Marian McPartland-Willis Conover Award for Career Achievement in Broadcasting from the Jazz Journalists Association. Gary hosts the morning show each weekday from 8am til noon. And, by his own admission, he's truly having a great time.
