Multi-Grammy winning pianist, singer and composer Eliane Elias on her Sony Hall concert and new album

Multi-Grammy winner and internationally celebrated pianist, vocalist and composer Eliane Elias will be performing at Sony Hall in New York City on June 14. Her new recording TIME AND AGAIN will officially be released on June 28 and includes all original compositions.

Eliane Elias spoke recently with WBGO's Latin Jazz Cruise host and Grammy-nominated percussionist and band leader Bobby Sanabria about her exciting new project that includes "Sempre" featuring Brazilian superstar DJavan plus special guest Bill Frisell.

TIME AND AGAIN proves that the multi-faceted, groundbreaking artist continues to reach new heights in a brilliant career spanning decades and displays her unique blend of her Brazilian roots and mastery of jazz, R&B and popular song.

Produced with her long-standing team of Marc Johnson and Steve Rodby, Time And Again showcases Elias’ exceptional songwriting with 8 original compositions. Featured musicians on the album include guitarists Conrado Goys, Marcus Teixeira and Daniel Santiago, along with Marc Johnson on acoustic bass, Marcelo Mariano on electric bass, and drummers Edu Ribeiro and Cuca Teixeira. Guest artists include vibraphonist Mike Mainieri, drummer Peter Erskine, the exceptional guitarist Bill Frisell, percussionists Marivaldo dos Santos and Davi Vieira, and the background vocals of Mark Kibble.

Over the course of her distinguished career, Eliane Elias has consistently displayed the ability to integrate the many artistic roles she takes on. With her 2022 GRAMMY and Latin GRAMMY winning album Mirror Mirror, she showcased her mastery of the piano and improvisation in a collection of duets with Chucho Valdés and Chick Corea. With 2023’s GRAMMY and LATIN GRAMMY nominated follow up Quietude, her intoxicating vocals took center stage singing Brazilian standards.

Bobby Sanabria is an eight time Grammy-nominee as a leader, drummer, percussionist, composer, arranger, conductor, documentary film producer, educator, activist, and bandleader. A native son of the South Bronx born to Puerto Rican parents, he has performed and recorded with such legends as Tito Puente, Mongo Santamaría, Dizzy Gillespie, Chico O’Farrill, Ray Barretto, Cándido, Henry Threadgill, Larry Harlow, and the Godfather of Afro-Cuban jazz, Mario Bauzá.
