Stephane Wrembel’s album ‘Triptych Phase 1’ featured on WBGO’s New Day, New Play April 22-27

As the name would imply, Triptych Phase 1 is the first of three albums, showing the amazing talents of guitarist Stephane Wrembel, and here, his collaboration with pianist Jean-Michel Pilc.

Along with saxophonist/clarinetist Nick Driscoll, guitarist Thor Jensen, bassist Ari Folman, drummer Nick Anderson, and guests Eduardo Belo on bass and Josh Kaye on guitar, the listener is treated to two inspired treatments of Django Reinhardt works, and original encounters from both the guitarist and pianist.

From Monday, April 22 through Friday, April 27, one cut from Stephane Wrembel’s album Triptych Phase 1 will be featured each morning in the New Day, New Play spotlight on my Daybreak show.

In jazz radio, great announcers are distinguished by their ability to convey the spontaneity and passion of the music. Gary Walker is such an announcer, and his enthusiasm for this music greets WBGO listeners every morning. This winner of the 1996 Gavin Magazine Jazz Radio Personality of the Year award has hosted the morning show each weekday from 5:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. And, by his own admission, he's truly having a great time.
