Captured live at the Yamaha Studios in New York City on February 7, 2024, in front of a packed intimate audience of special guests and members of WBGO Jazz Leadership Society, pianist Monty Alexander gave a masterful performance that left the audience craving for more. Alexander, born in Kingston, Jamaica on D-Day, June 6, 1944, will be digitally releasing a new record D-Day on the French record label Pee Wee! on March 29. (LP release in early April)
During his conversation with Doug Doyle, WBGO's Director of News and Editorial Content, Alexander told amazing stories about Frank Sinatra, Harry Belafonte, Sarah Vaughan, Tony Bennett, Muhammad Ali and many more.
Later in the evening, Monty was joined by bassist Luke Sellick for a few tunes.
