About 6 years ago, while I’m sitting home drinking a couple of Heineken beers. I pulled out a CD I produced in the ’90s titled Gary Bartz & Sonny Fortune: Alto Memories with Kenny Barron, Buster Williams and Jack DeJohnette). Grooving to the CD and having another beer, I began to read the liner notes. It was wonderful reading, but I couldn’t remember who Verve Records paid to write this…..but it was outstanding, fluid and….well just beautiful.
Then I got to the end of the liner notes…..and began to cry. The writer…..it was me.
