Vocalist Allan Harris always brings a fine instrument and an endless amount of imagination to his projects. He's done it with Nat Cole and Eddie Jefferson, told us stories of the American Black Cowboy, taken us inside a juke joint or through his own sense memory of his aunt's soul food restaurant around the corner from the world famous Apollo Theatre in Harlem. For all this he's built quite a following, and was a prize winner at last year's Sarah Vaughan International Vocal Competition.

Here, captured live in Ann Arbor, Michigan, Allan drives his band through the worlds of Bobby Hebb, Eddie Jefferson, Miles Davis and Chick Corea, with a couple of original stories to seal the set.

From Monday, August 21 through Friday, August 25, one cut from the LIve at the Blue Llama Jazz Club album will be featured each morning on the New Day, New Play spotlight on my Daybreak show.

In jazz radio, great announcers are distinguished by their ability to convey the spontaneity and passion of the music. Gary Walker is such an announcer, and his enthusiasm for this music greets WBGO listeners every morning on Daybreak. He's the winner of the 1996 Gavin Magazine Jazz Radio Personality of the Year Award and the recipient of the 2021 Marian McPartland-Willis Conover Award for Career Achievement in Broadcasting from the Jazz Journalists Association. Gary hosts the morning show each weekday from 8am til noon. And, by his own admission, he's truly having a great time.
