Don Braden

As saxophonist and flutist Don Braden says, “Earth Wind and Fire and Stevie Wonder captured my teenage heart, mind and soul and STILL have not let go!” With Earth Wind and Wonder, Volume 2, Don applies his own harmonies and rhythms reflected in the arrangements on classics we all have a sense memory with. The saxophonist & flutist is joined by pianists Art Hirahara and Miki Hayama, bassist Kenny Davis, drummer Jeremy Warren and percussionist Khalil Kwame Bell.

From Monday, July 31 through Friday, August 4, one cut from Baden’s Earth Wind and Wonder, Volume 2 album will be featured each morning on the New Day, New Play spotlight on my Daybreak show.

In jazz radio, great announcers are distinguished by their ability to convey the spontaneity and passion of the music. Gary Walker is such an announcer, and his enthusiasm for this music greets WBGO listeners every morning on Daybreak. He's the winner of the 1996 Gavin Magazine Jazz Radio Personality of the Year Award and the recipient of the 2021 Marian McPartland-Willis Conover Award for Career Achievement in Broadcasting from the Jazz Journalists Association. Gary hosts the morning show each weekday from 8am til noon. And, by his own admission, he's truly having a great time.
